Cheddar Cheese and Bacon Biscuits

I remember when I use to go to Timmies and get a ham and cheese biscuit to go with my morning tea. For whatever reason, they discontinued making those and I really missed them.  I started to search around for a recipe that was similar to those biscuits.  I've changed some ingredients to what I had on hand as always but give them a try and let me know how yours turn out.

Ingredients

2 3/4 cups all-purpose
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
½ teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into ½-inch cubes
½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese (1½ ounces)
¼ cup real bacon bits (1½ ounces)
¼ cup thinly sliced fresh green onions
1 cup reduced-fat milk
1 large egg

Directions
1 Preheat oven to 400°F. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.

2 Whisk all-purpose our, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Using a pastry blender or your fingertips, cut or rub butter into the dry ingredients. Stir in cheese, bacon, and green onions.

3 Whisk milk and egg in a medium bowl; stir into the dry ingredients until just combined.

4 Sprinkle a work surface with 1 tablespoon flour. Turn the dough out and sprinkle the top with
the remaining 1 tablespoon flour. Knead three to five times, or until the dough just comes
together. Divide in half and pat each piece into a 5-inch circle. Cut each circle into 6 wedges
and transfer to the prepared baking sheet. Or you can roll out the dough and use a small glass to cut out circles.  Place the circles on the cookie sheet.  The closer they are the softer the bake, the farther apart they are the crisper the edges are.

5 Bake the biscuits for, 18 to 24 minutes.
